Instant Drawing Machine is a photography practice, the name refering to the process, and the machinery itself. The identity is designed to complement the name, with visual explorations exploring notions of machine vision and automated, mechanical movement.

The machine gaze
Reflecting on the increased use of computation within photography, and going deeper into the 'machine' of the name, in evolving the identity I explored using computer vision to define an adaptive network. Using the Posenet machine learning model, I applied it to a series of portraits from IDM's portfolio. Visualising both the the pose and the format of the crop, it creates a visual dynamic that can evolve and adapt as new work is made.
